27 Dress-Ups 06: Going Rockchic

Starting the week strong – that’s what this rock chic look is for. Who says you can’t go rock-ish in the office, right?
This earthy printed dress was too formal with its silky ruffle neckline, so I hid that beneath a lace bolero and voila – something not-so “are-you-going-to-a-debut?” Hehe.  That’s the trick with too formal dresses – you just have to pair them with jackets, cardigans or covers that would “tone their formality down.”
I just love these strappy heels. They’re one accessory that can surely pull off a head-turner look.
I know Mondays are quite heavy to take for some because it’s the start of the week and all, so being all back to business but glam at the same time wouldn't really hurt just so it’s not all bad. Try it! :D Have a productive week ahead!

27Dress-Ups 05: Hot like the Devil's Home

Pair a little colorfully textured top with some flowy maxis and what will you have? – A hot as hell outfit! Tsss! (like the sound a sizzling plate makes. Haha!)
Before, I would never have the courage to be fashion-forward with my looks. I guess with time came my confidence. The clothes also surely give you a sense of security and power, which is surely what the essence of the expression “power-dressing,” is.

Who says you have to limit yourself to boring slacks and skirts? Try experimenting with pleated maxis like this or even printed skirts and dress pants.
These maxis were actually too long for my five-foot frame. What more fabulous fix than high heels? I got these wedges from So! Fab and I tell you, they’re one of the coziest for the feet, aside from being truly “so fab.”

Cheers to a hot, hot week!

27 Dress-Ups 04: Monochromatix

Oh, hello blogging. We meet again. After all the busy-ness, finally!

It’s the middle of the week and it all feels so dull. There are just these unavoidable times when you can’t help feeling out of your game. Good thing at the end of it, I still feel pretty fab despite the monotony. Haha!
As a tribute to monotonous middles of the week, I sported monochrome hues in this look. Grays and black and whites just really feel so natural to me. I bet they’ll never go out of style in whatever generation to come.
Of course, pops of color would be advisable. A pinch of red timelessly does the trick. Maybe a red belt or something would make this look better. But I was too in to a monochrome look to even consider.

Well, have a less dull week ahead. Hope we all have more exciting surprises along the way. Happy halloween btw! Hope we have a halloween thing later at work so it'll fun! :D

27 Dress-ups 03: Off to Party Weekends

Here's a tribute to the most anticipated days of the week - WEEKENDS.

Of course, to have some relief of all the stresses incurred during the week, some working people love partying the night away on Fridays and Saturdays. Well, I'm not really a party girl, and I've actually never been to a club before, but if I were going there, maybe here's what I would wear...
Got this hot leopard print dress at 350 bucks from Jewels. I just love how it gives you a sexy silhouette. And my leopard print sunnies surely match them.
Because the print is loud already, no need for big and bold accessories. The 2-tone leather and espadrille wedges are stylish enough to pull the look off together and make your feet last throughout the night.

And oh yes, I wore this at the office. (Sorry boyfie. I know you might not approve.) Surely got the "fashionista" comments and vibes from my workmates. Hehe.
Oh, and in case you were wondering, these 27 dress-up photos are all taken when I reach home. They're all morning-after photos which is why I look a little washed and worn out already. Haha. Happy weekend everybody!

27 Dress-Ups 02: Laid Back Gray

I love wearing dresses. They're so easy-breezy! With a touch of a few accessories, any dress can create a great chic look. Of course, the dress has to have a nice print or color and just the right shape that could perfect accent the feminine curves.

When it comes to colors, one of the most versatile is surely gray. It looks complimentary to almost any skin color, I think. Of course, to remove the dullness, it can be mixed with colorful and also complimentary accessories. This time, I wore it with my tribal necklace and my pink flats from Paris (from Mom's recent Eurotrip. Hehe).
This dress from Forever 21 surely fuses comfort, style and functionality into one. As you can see here, it actually has pockets so if you're a light traveler, no need for any purse at all for your essentials.
And yes, this is really office worthy. This look's the cross between semi-formal and business casual so it's a big check for our dress-up weekdays. Not to mention, it's also so comfy to wear amid the work stress. Hehe.
It's a little overexposed (little then over, haha) with the shots taken from our backyard so I took this photo in our living room just so you could see the actual print and the tribal necklace.
Have a chill rest of the week.

27 Dress-Ups 01: Pegging Prim and Proper

Hey everyone! Feels good to be blogging again!

Got my very first parcel yesterday! I ordered 3 tops and a vest from an online shop for the very first time also last week and my orders arrived when I was sleeping last Saturday. Imagine my half-dazed surprise when I woke up and a torn parcel was beside my pillow already. Mom got excited and carried away so she ripped em up herself when it arrived, according to her. Haha.

Was quite disappointed with the peach top there tho. It was white in the photo and yet it arrived that way. Haha. Anyway, they're all so pretty and fab so it's okay! And they were such a bargain! I got them at Buy 1 Take 1 @ 350 from Supra Fame. I must say, online shopping was quite satisfying, I know I'll do it again some time. Hehe. Can't wait to wear 'em all! :D

In other news:

It's back to dress-up weekdays in the office, but of course, we won't settle for looking dull and uptight. I decided to challenge myself with 27 different looks that would qualify in our dress-up rule, without sacrificing being fab.

Just to give a general idea what are the do's and don'ts during dress-up days, let me enumerate some of the general mandates:

  • No plain tees. Jackets or blazers must be worn on top if T-shirts are worn.
  • No leggings (except for preggies) and jeans. Slacks and skirts are preferred.
  • No sleeveless and anything revealing. Dresses must be at least 3 inches above the kneecap or longer.
  • Shoes must have at least an inch of heels. (But our team leader told me that flats are acceptable for closed shoes)
So here's my first look - 27 Dress-Ups 01: Pegging Prim and Proper
I've worn this dress as a top before, and now I decided to "set all its colors free." Teehee! I paired it with a knit cardigan and my vintage beige shoes to create a preppy chick look.
The vintage necklace and Asian-inspired cuff added a trinket-load of fun flair to the look.

Of course, the printed sunnies top it all off to give off a cool, stylish vibe. Comfort and style will always be my main considerations in my looks. And...
Bottom line is: whatever you wear, JUST HAVE FUN WITH IT! :D

Round Morato in a Maxi

As an initiation to a more independent lifestyle, my friends took me recently to my very first Saturday night out in the bright and busy streets of Tomas Morato. I was with two groups of friends – my officemates and my high school friends and here’s what went down all night: shopping in the boutiques in the ABS-CBN building (which I found out was like Divi placed in a nicer environment and only fully opened during paydays), helping this foreigner football player who got robbed (we really had our sympathies and empathy for him), a Yellowcab feast for 4, karaoke in Music Bank, then with my HS buddies:  drinks and K24/7, the awesome RNB band that played our high school proms, in this nice little bar called Tony’s, and lastly, “masa” that we are, we ended up in a Bentelog (twenty peso meals of rice, egg and a viand) place for an after-hours chow.
What was I wearing throughout the night? I pulled together a “classy” outfit – a printed black maxi paired with black leather and espadrille-heeled wedges.
I love the comfort that wedges give me. They’re such a treat for feet on the go throughout the night. They also protected my feet from being soaked in the puddles of that rainy night.
It’s my first time to wear a maxi, and I have to say that it was really comfy and I felt so girly. Hehe. It’s certainly a versatile dress that one can wear in many occasions.
Props to the stray kitty behind me. Awesome photo element, and in tune with my color palette even!

We’re going out Saturday again after payday, so see you there? (:

Chic in Sheer

Thank you for visiting Fad Salad; my name is Ginyn. May I have your first name and the initial of your last name, please!
After an indescribably long hiatus, I’m back! The reason for such a great absence is the very reason for the opening spiel of this entry – my newfound career in the BPO industry! We just finished training and transition, and we’re off to production now. WUHOOO!

I must say, the whole experience has been great so far, with great being the operative and ambivalent word there. There were lots of fun moments, especially with my crazy “wavemates” and lots of nerve-wracking and overwhelming days especially during OJT! Overall, and unlike others with negative stereotypes about the job, I really find fulfillment and pride in what I’m doing. (Plus, the pay’s not really bad either! Hehe!)

Anyway, throughout the communications and product trainings, I’ve been trying to stay oh-so-fab with my outfits. Of course, despite the stress, one should fight with lots of vitamins and lots of positive energy. What better way to attract good vibes than to face each day dressed to impress?

I really do regret not taking more pictures since I thought my mom, who recently had her “business” Eurotrip, brought our cam and later on found out that it was just here in our home. I promise to make up for that these coming weeks for sure! Okay, here the first one goes!
Well in the company, we have dress up policies wherein we should all be in business attire. There are days, however, that we’re allowed to “dress down” where we can wear jeans and flats. I really take advantage of those days when I want to wear a pair of jeans for comfort. Of course, even if the bottoms of the outfit are just jeans, the flair of a colorful top will surely cure the spell of dullness.
Here I chose to wear my colorful sheer kimono. It’s actually an awesome top – a really good investment if you’re shopping – ‘cause it can also be used as a cover-up for summer outfits or swimwear. I actually first used this in our trip to Boracay earlier this year.
Of course it looks best pulled together with a black inner garment like a bustier, but who knows? Maybe other colors like pink or yellow will look great with it as well. I also wore a clack chain choker "to fill in the void," so to speak, of the big V neckline that the top made. That little blue Asian bracelet was just added for an extra pop of color.
I picked these heels from Figliarina to make the outfit a classy and a little on the high fashion look. The dull tone of the shoes makes the top the center of attention of the outfit. Btw, I recently found fondness in pairs of high kicks which give my short stature and consequently my confidence a little boost, and I’ll be showing them to you in my future posts.
Well, that’s it! More in store for you next time!
Thank you for visiting, and a have a great day!
