27 Dress-Ups 07: Pink Perky Fridays

Throughout the week, we’re lost when in comes to dates in the office. There are just two days that we become highly aware of – Mondays and Fridays – the former being the mother of all awareness that it’s back to work, back to business, and the latter boiling down to the weekend’s anticipation. Fridays bring ambiguous feelings toward work – either you’re so pumped to get it over with that you’re breezing through everything, or you’re so down and lazy bringing all the negative vibes in your work. Well, instead of sulking through work and almost throwing up every next bit, it’s surely miles better to choose to be positive!

What better way to bring sincerely perky vibes into the workplace than with dashes of bright, happy colors. They surely brighten up the environment and the mood (well, for the fashion frenzied anyway). And what happier colors are there other than pink and yellow?

I just love the patterns of this pink polo shirt. They’re quite unique and exquisitely crafted if you look closely. They naturally take the edge off of any dull plains.
These colors were also treats to the eyes of boyfie’s nephew, who we babysat before work. Nevertheless, they’re certainly powerless when the infant started to get all fussy and wouldn’t stop crying for like an hour (which seemed like eternity to us.) That really took out a lot of energy! (Not to mention the strengthened regard to NOT have kids till we’re surely prepared! Haha.)

I know I got a little – well, maybe even a lot – silly when it came to taking these photos. I figured – fun outfit equals fun poses. Teehee! We all deserve a break! Have a fun weekend!

27 Dress-Ups 02: Laid Back Gray

I love wearing dresses. They're so easy-breezy! With a touch of a few accessories, any dress can create a great chic look. Of course, the dress has to have a nice print or color and just the right shape that could perfect accent the feminine curves.

When it comes to colors, one of the most versatile is surely gray. It looks complimentary to almost any skin color, I think. Of course, to remove the dullness, it can be mixed with colorful and also complimentary accessories. This time, I wore it with my tribal necklace and my pink flats from Paris (from Mom's recent Eurotrip. Hehe).
This dress from Forever 21 surely fuses comfort, style and functionality into one. As you can see here, it actually has pockets so if you're a light traveler, no need for any purse at all for your essentials.
And yes, this is really office worthy. This look's the cross between semi-formal and business casual so it's a big check for our dress-up weekdays. Not to mention, it's also so comfy to wear amid the work stress. Hehe.
It's a little overexposed (little then over, haha) with the shots taken from our backyard so I took this photo in our living room just so you could see the actual print and the tribal necklace.
Have a chill rest of the week.

Archived: Book Shopping in Blue and S&R’s NY Style Pizza

This outfit’s actually already ages past. They were taken by my bestie, Martin, when I accompanied him to book shopping in a bookstore in Trinoma. I must say, the ambiance there was quite exceptional compared to others. It gives you the peace you need when trying to decide your next good reads.
Anyway, as for this casual outfit, I went for a very chic ensemble with main tones of blue and white. The brown belt and bag were in dull tones just so it’s not a monotony of bright and bubbly.
I added the yellow tassels for an extra flair of color. To frame the face, I let the curls and my braid fall to one side.
Later on that night, we stayed over in our friend’s house. Her mom’s like the superstar baker and that night, she served us the heavenliest moist rum cake drizzled with some condensed milk. I learned that the secret to moist cake is the addition of pudding to the ingredients. I will surely try that soon!
Sorry for the blurry rum cake photos. Couldn't get it right! Still looks yummy tho. Hehe.
They also treat us to S&R’s NY Style Pizza. I never thought that something bought from the supermarket could be so gourmet-tasting! Unlike other pizzas, the toppings were really a burst of fresh flavors and the dough was baked to be chewy and light.

It’s a must try, guys! Toodles!

Round Morato in a Maxi

As an initiation to a more independent lifestyle, my friends took me recently to my very first Saturday night out in the bright and busy streets of Tomas Morato. I was with two groups of friends – my officemates and my high school friends and here’s what went down all night: shopping in the boutiques in the ABS-CBN building (which I found out was like Divi placed in a nicer environment and only fully opened during paydays), helping this foreigner football player who got robbed (we really had our sympathies and empathy for him), a Yellowcab feast for 4, karaoke in Music Bank, then with my HS buddies:  drinks and K24/7, the awesome RNB band that played our high school proms, in this nice little bar called Tony’s, and lastly, “masa” that we are, we ended up in a Bentelog (twenty peso meals of rice, egg and a viand) place for an after-hours chow.
What was I wearing throughout the night? I pulled together a “classy” outfit – a printed black maxi paired with black leather and espadrille-heeled wedges.
I love the comfort that wedges give me. They’re such a treat for feet on the go throughout the night. They also protected my feet from being soaked in the puddles of that rainy night.
It’s my first time to wear a maxi, and I have to say that it was really comfy and I felt so girly. Hehe. It’s certainly a versatile dress that one can wear in many occasions.
Props to the stray kitty behind me. Awesome photo element, and in tune with my color palette even!

We’re going out Saturday again after payday, so see you there? (:

Chic in Sheer

Thank you for visiting Fad Salad; my name is Ginyn. May I have your first name and the initial of your last name, please!
After an indescribably long hiatus, I’m back! The reason for such a great absence is the very reason for the opening spiel of this entry – my newfound career in the BPO industry! We just finished training and transition, and we’re off to production now. WUHOOO!

I must say, the whole experience has been great so far, with great being the operative and ambivalent word there. There were lots of fun moments, especially with my crazy “wavemates” and lots of nerve-wracking and overwhelming days especially during OJT! Overall, and unlike others with negative stereotypes about the job, I really find fulfillment and pride in what I’m doing. (Plus, the pay’s not really bad either! Hehe!)

Anyway, throughout the communications and product trainings, I’ve been trying to stay oh-so-fab with my outfits. Of course, despite the stress, one should fight with lots of vitamins and lots of positive energy. What better way to attract good vibes than to face each day dressed to impress?

I really do regret not taking more pictures since I thought my mom, who recently had her “business” Eurotrip, brought our cam and later on found out that it was just here in our home. I promise to make up for that these coming weeks for sure! Okay, here the first one goes!
Well in the company, we have dress up policies wherein we should all be in business attire. There are days, however, that we’re allowed to “dress down” where we can wear jeans and flats. I really take advantage of those days when I want to wear a pair of jeans for comfort. Of course, even if the bottoms of the outfit are just jeans, the flair of a colorful top will surely cure the spell of dullness.
Here I chose to wear my colorful sheer kimono. It’s actually an awesome top – a really good investment if you’re shopping – ‘cause it can also be used as a cover-up for summer outfits or swimwear. I actually first used this in our trip to Boracay earlier this year.
Of course it looks best pulled together with a black inner garment like a bustier, but who knows? Maybe other colors like pink or yellow will look great with it as well. I also wore a clack chain choker "to fill in the void," so to speak, of the big V neckline that the top made. That little blue Asian bracelet was just added for an extra pop of color.
I picked these heels from Figliarina to make the outfit a classy and a little on the high fashion look. The dull tone of the shoes makes the top the center of attention of the outfit. Btw, I recently found fondness in pairs of high kicks which give my short stature and consequently my confidence a little boost, and I’ll be showing them to you in my future posts.
Well, that’s it! More in store for you next time!
Thank you for visiting, and a have a great day!

Helgaholic: The Quirky One (Repost from TMS)

One of Manila’s "hippest" lifestyle bloggers today is Ms. Helga Weber of helgaholic.com and ditz-revolution.net.

Aside from feature beauty articles, her true-to-self and frank statements on various issues that fancy her way, her passion for ink (tattoos, that is) and hair dying, her devotion to her cat and photography, she paints her blogs with fashion posts that show her creative side. Her followers just love all her pretty quirks.
Helga's latest do. Aquamarine with hints of pink and blue at the ends.
Edgy as he is, she also sported a half-shaved head for some time.
It all started here. (Well, not rilly here, but this is how simple her hair dyeing business started.)
Unlike others who rely on brands to be fashion-forward, she’s one of the bloggers that’s very appealing to the “masa” (relatable to the public) of Manila, as one proud-of-it thrift store shopper aside from being patrons of the truly worth-her-money brands.
She pairs certain pieces for casual wear...

But she can easily glam them up too.

Combining thrifted bargains with branded finds is one of Helga's fortes.

Helga shows that even the average girl can be highly fashionable if she just has the keen eye on using her resources well.

Three Topmost: Print-on-print Edition (Repost from TMS)

Oh, I so missed blogging! I've been too busy accomplishing work requirements and adjusting to "semi-independent" life. Well, here goes some lazy reposts. Hope you guys enjoy them like my previous ones! :D

This time, we take a look on one of the hottest trends in fashion today: print-on-print. Fashion has surely 360-ed from the formerly oh-so-conventionally minimalist with this one as pairing a couple of printed pieces becomes all the rage. Of course, who does it better than our three favorite bloggers, Camille Co, Kryz Uy and Laureen Uy.

With this look, Camille dazzles with actually two trends: floral designs and print-on-print. How the outfit comes together is a matter of choosing the dominant print colors.
Here, she went for the very feminine pink and powder blue with the third printed piece, the adorable wedges. Very doll-like, isn’t she?

Kryz here went for the classic animal and geometrical prints. One rule of thumb in playing with prints is mixing shape-oriented with linear.
The studded cuffs and peep toes go blended well together with the outfit.

Fad Salad’s favorite for this style is Laureen in her peach and black combo.
Another tip for the print-on-print trend is mixing and matching light and dark-colored pieces.

Since prints are such bold elements already, sticking with two basic color palettes and maybe little highlights with classic colors like gold (as shown in both Camille and Laureen’s looks) would make the look more fashion-fused.
